Today we went to the Taipei Zoo. Everyone had a blast. The
Taipei Zoo is really large, but only cost $2 for Rebecca and I to each enter,
$1 for Julia, Ethan, and Christian, and nothing for Elliott, Agnes, and Asher –
so at $7 for the whole family, we thought it was a real steal. Once in the zoo
we started with the children’s petting area. There were some horses and donkeys
that they got to feed and pet, but not really any of the standard petting
animals (pigs, goats, chickens). Although they were behind a cage so we
couldn’t pet them, we did spend a lot of time watching the monkeys here. Next
we went to see the giant pandas. They had a special exhibit all set up for them
and I guess on the weekends it gets so crowded that they limit the number of
guests that get to go in. Seeing the pandas was cool, but they are really kind
of sedentary animal, so after five minutes of seeing them sit there we were
ready to go. Some of the other animals that the children got really excited
about where the apes (there were some that were hollering really loud), the
tigers, the giant turtles, the elephants, the giraffes, all the birds in the
bird aviary, and all of the animals in the reptile house. We stayed all the way
until they closed at 5pm, but only got to about 2/3 of the zoo. By the end of
the day we all felt exhausted and were ready for bed.
At the subway on the way to the zoo.
First stop, the monkeys!
Asher wiped out at the end of the day.
